Sun Catcher Roofing is proud to announce that we earned the 2026 FRSA S.T.A.R. Award in the Craftsmanship in Roofing Category for our work on the Talanian Residence metal roof in Boca Raton, Florida.

The award was presented during the Florida Roofing and Sheet Metal Contractors Association (FRSA) Convention in Orlando on June 13, 2026. The FRSA S.T.A.R. Awards recognize outstanding roofing projects throughout Florida that demonstrate exceptional workmanship, technical expertise, innovation, and attention to detail.

Sun Catcher Roofing received the Spotlight Trophy for Advancement in the Craftsmanship in Roofing Category, recognizing the team’s ability to deliver a complex coastal metal roofing system that meets the highest standards of performance, durability, and installation quality.

Recognized for Excellence in Roofing Craftsmanship

The award-winning Talanian Residence project showcases the precision and expertise required to install a custom standing seam metal roof on a 45-foot-tall coastal home exposed to some of the harshest environmental conditions in South Florida.

Located in Boca Raton, the multi-level waterfront residence required a roofing system engineered to withstand salt air exposure, high winds, intense UV radiation, and heavy rain while complementing the home’s upscale architectural design.

From deck preparation and structural inspection to custom-fabricated flashings and mechanically seamed panels, every aspect of the project was executed with a focus on long-term performance and superior craftsmanship.

A Coastal Roofing Project Built for South Florida Conditions

The existing concrete tile roof had deteriorated over time due to prolonged exposure to South Florida’s coastal environment. Years of salt air, moisture, and UV exposure reduced the roof’s waterproofing performance and accelerated wear on the roofing system.

To provide the homeowner with a long-lasting solution, Sun Catcher Roofing performed a complete tear-off down to the roof deck. Following removal of the existing roof, our team conducted a thorough inspection of the decking and replaced any compromised CDX plywood to ensure a structurally sound foundation for the new roofing system.

Premium Aluminum Standing Seam Metal Roofing System

The new roofing system features a premium .032 aluminum standing seam roof manufactured by Dynamic Metals. The system includes 16-inch-wide panels with a 1.5-inch mechanical lock profile in Slate Grey, providing exceptional weather protection with a clean architectural finish.

Aluminum was selected because of its strong corrosion resistance, making it an ideal roofing material for coastal homes exposed to salt air. To further enhance performance, a Polyglass FR high-temperature underlayment was installed beneath the metal panels, creating an additional layer of waterproofing protection.

Engineered to Meet Florida Building Code Requirements

Because of the home’s height and coastal location, special attention was given to wind uplift resistance and waterproofing performance. Every panel was mechanically seamed and installed using a code-compliant fastening pattern engineered to meet Florida Building Code requirements for a 45-foot-tall structure.

Custom-fabricated flashings, valleys, hips, and penetration details were incorporated throughout the project to help ensure watertight integrity across all roof transitions. These details are especially important on multi-level homes where roof geometry, elevation, and coastal weather exposure create added installation challenges.
